And what relation does the title "Dolph does the discotheque" have with my intro about WM Recordings? An obscure one .. but rather obvious if you know the big, blue hippopotamus named Dolph known from the Danish cartoon strip Wulffmorgenthaler. Dolph is known to scream all he is saying - never just saying, but literally screaming - so my first thought when I heard the track Babu Po Ebalu!!! on the album Sex, drugs and Russian girls (WM031) by a Russian guy named Nambavan, I thought the resemblance with Dolph's way of talking (screaming, I wrote!), was very close.

Anyway, the album is - as Nambavan's style has been described - inspired by Blondie, The Sex Pistols, Cerrone, Sonic Youth, Jimi Hendrix, Iggy Pop, The Doors, Giorgio Moroder, Donna Summer, Madonna, Supermax, and The Bee Gees. You may not like the album for very long, but give it a shot - who knows if you discover yourself a new hero? My personal recommendations from the album are #07 - "Galaxy Love", #08 - "Foto 9x12", and #09 - "Liver (Distortion Disco Mix)".

And just think of it: Isn't it an obvious connection to Dolph, since they named the netlabel "WM Recordings"? WulffMorgenthaler .. eh? Whatever, have a nice Christmas as this will most likely be the last blog entry I write before Christmas Eve (the day after tomorrow?!).
